Southern Cross Engineering (SCE) operates throughout New Zealand, Australia and also handles major projects throughout the Pacific Rim countries and Antarctica, with manufacturing premises in Christchurch, New Zealand.

The facilities in Christchurch are housed in approximately 5,500m² of manufacturing machine shop, steel fabrication and assembly departments. The Christchurch factory has a total crane capacity of two 12.5 tonne cranes, two 5 tonne cranes, one 10 tonne crane and an 8 tonne mobile crane. SCE Christchurch has an onsite design and drawing office staffed with fully qualified design engineers and draughtsman equipped with 7 stations running Autodesk Inventor 3D and AutoCAD 2D.

In 2021, SCE was acquired by MHM Automation. Today SCE is a key product brand of MHM Automation, with a focus on providing industry-leading grain stackers, pressure vessels and boilers, timber processing equipment and specialised solutions for Antarctica, along with servicing and spare parts. The capabilities of SCE have been combined with other MHM capabilities in fabrication, automation and design to deliver a fully integrated service to our customers.
SCE places importance on its Quality Assurance Programme and has adopted the ISO9001 international quality standard.
